Kids

Of course, the first thing you consider is whether it's an adult's party or a kid's birthday party. This makes a huge difference when it comes to sending out the invites and when you send them out. Usually, you will be throwing the party at the weekend, one evening in the week, or during the school holidays. This makes things a lot easier to organise, it is likely that all the children invited would be free. For kids parties, you can send them out a month before the party and the latest you could send them would be a fortnight before. One of the biggest things you may need to consider is the venue. If you have booked something like bowling, or a play area, you may need a set number of kids to attend. This could mean you might need to send invites a little earlier than usual just so you know how many kids to expect on the day.

Adults

For adults, it is a little harder to get things organised. You have to consider all kinds of factors when you decide how early to send invites out. Working hours, family commitments, and holidays are just some of the things that suggest sending an invite early can give you a clear idea of who is coming. A small gathering at home or in the pub will allow you to send out invites a fortnight beforehand, while a black-tie gala may require more time. However, if it is a hall, restaurant, or garden party, then you need to have an idea of how many people are coming. It is a good idea to send out invites in this case about six to eight weeks early. You also might want to consider the type of party it is. If you're having a 1980s themed party, then you want to give plenty of warning for your guests to choose their costumes (and stock up on hairspray!). If that is the case, then send them out as soon as you are ready.

Lastly

No matter how early you send them out, remember to be clear about the venue's location, date, and time, and make sure you include an RSVP.

Remember to include names
